A young man by the name of Ernest Hemingway was born in1898 andgrew up in a suburb of Chicago Illinois. (Jones 416) Hisfatherwas a doctor. As a boy, he and his father spent timetogether pursuit and fishing in Michigan. (Brown 571) Hemingwaywrote forhis school newspaper. (Jones 416) During his youthHemingway alsoplayed football and swam. (Smith 34)After graduating from high school, Hemingway was hiredwith theKansas City principal sum newspaper. (Jones 416) While makeup fortheKansas City Star, Hemingway began to develop his ownunique styleof writing. (Brown 571)Later, Hemingway worked for the Red mishandle as anambulance driverduring World War I. (Jones 416) Only a fewer days before hewouldturn twenty years old, Hemingway was wound in the legand sentback to the United States. (Smith 34)In 1921, the Toronto Star sent Hemingway to Europe as ajournalist writer. While in Paris he create two books. TheSunAlso Rises was published in 1926 and was his first novelthatmade him a well-know n writer. Hemingway love to writeabout hisadventurous activities. During the Spanish Civil War in the1930s, Hemingway wrote For Whom the Bell Tolls. objet dartypeoplethought this was one of his best novels. Hemingway afterwrote anovel about showing the need to accept life with honor. In1952he published this novel entitled The Old Man in the Sea.(Jones416) Hemingway won the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for thisnovel.(Brown 571)Hemingway loved to experience nature. He loved adventureandenjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching bullfights. Theseadventurous experiences helped shape his style of writing. earlywriters later copied this style.
